Ajay Gupta, MD
Dr. Ajay Gupta serves as Medical Liaison at Hancock Walk-In Care in Austin, TX. USACS provides physician and advanced practice provider services for this CommUnityCare facility in central Austin, which is part of a private, non-profit operation serving more than 88,000 patients annually. Dr. Gupta works with USACS physicians and operations staff, along with CommUnityCare, to provide day-to-day operational and clinical guidance.
Dr. Gupta assumed this leadership role in 2016, having served as president and medical director of Jefferson Street Family Practice in Austin from 1997 to 2015. A recognized medical leader, Dr. Gupta is immediate past president of the Texas Academy of Family Physicians and since 2000has served on its board of directors, which he chaired in 2017. He is also active in a number of other professional organizations, including the American Academy of Family Physicians, Seton Health Alliance, Texas Medical Association, and the Travis County Medical Society. Since 2002 he has served as a physician medical claims consultant for the Texas Medical Liability Trust.
Board-certified in Family Practice, Dr. Gupta earned his bachelor’s degree from Houston Baptist University and went on to complete medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio and his family practice residency in Corpus Christi.
Apart from his clinical interests, Dr. Gupta has served as a volunteer with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, spent six years as a contributing writer for Parentwise Austin’s “Ask the Doc” feature, and loves to spend time with his family.
