As an EMS director at USACS, you will be responsible for conducting in-service training to support the EMS program at the hospital for EMTs, paramedics, nurses and emergency physicians. We are looking for leaders who are able to plan, organize, direct and coordinate to ensure efficient and effective emergency and ambulatory services. You will also be required to work collaboratively with the medical director and supporting staff to formulate EMS policies and procedures.

Hospital

  • 166-bed community hospital situated in the city of Cortland
  • 80-bed skilled nursing facility also on campus
  • Full service capabilities with most specialties represented on site
  • Interventional cardiology, major trauma, neurosurgery, and critical pediatrics are transferred
  • Hospitalist service is in-house 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • CT and Ultrasound are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • MRI is available during weekdays 8am to 4pm, and Nuclear Medicine is available 8am to 9pm
  • Radiology department includes interventional radiology and teleradiology
  • Minimal boarding of patients in ED
  • Supportive hospital administration

Emergency Department

  • 25% admission rate
  • Highly functional Emergency Department design
  • Radiology suite and PAC system located in the ED with real time radiologist reads during the day
  • Broad mix of patient pathology, adult and pediatric
  • Full complement of monitored beds including a “floating” telemetry system
  • 24-hour chart dictation via in-house transcription
  • Stroke Telemedicine coordination with specialist on call
  • Equipment includes EZ-IO, and Video Laryngoscope, Tonopen
  • Emergency physician bedside ultrasound available
  • Emergency physician run observation unit helps ED efficiency
  • Experienced team of PA’s and NP’s assist in the ED and Urgent Care

Cortland is a beautiful town with an approximate population of 20,000 people and is situated in the desirable Finger Lakes region of south central New York about 25 miles south of Syracuse.  Working in Cortland affords access to a variety of residential options including established older communities in town, suburban subdivisions, the college-town environment of nearby Ithaca, and the southern suburbs of Syracuse.  The region hosts a number of highly regarded school systems, as well as a number of colleges and universities, including Cornell, Ithaca, Syracuse, Tompkins Community College, Lemoyne & Cortland State Universities.
