Jay Carter, MSEE, MD, FACEP, graduated from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine and then trained in emergency medicine at Akron General. He is board certified in both EM and EMS. Dr. Carter practiced as a flight physician with Metro Life Flight prior to getting his feet back on the ground.

Dr. Carter is the EMS Medical Director for a number of agencies, including many of the Lake County Fire/EMS Departments, a private ambulance service, a water park, several industrial sites, the City of Hudson, and Metro SWAT. When he is not working in one of Lake Health's EDs, he routinely responds on EMS and SWAT calls, and occasionally can be spotted back in the air with Life Flight. 

As an electrical engineer he spends his spare time designing microelectronics and has published several articles in this field. He is also a pilot, scuba diver, and a ham radio operator. Dr. Carter's wife is a paramedic and officer for the Hudson EMS. They have two sons.
