Dr. Matthew Wilkinson, FAAP, FACEP, is an emergency physician in the Department of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. He also is an associate professor of Pediatrics and serves as the assistant chair for clinical research, department of pediatrics, at the University of Texas Austin Dell Medical School. He is cofounder and chief clinical officer for EM Device Lab, Inc., in Austin.

He is a recipient of the 2017 Ken Graff Research Award, considered to be the most prestigious research award available to trainees and early career faculty in the field of pediatric emergency medicine. He is involved with the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Research Committee as a principal investigator, a member of UT’s Health Science Institutional Review Board, and a member of the Seton Institutional Review Board.

Educational activities include being a member of the fellowship curriculum committee, research director of PEM Fellowship, and journal club director of PEM Fellowship. He teaches a number of courses and advises and mentors a number of medical students, residents, and researchers. He has received grant funding for numerous studies and has published the results of completed studies. He has presented throughout the nation.

Dr. Wilkinson earned a bachelor’s degree (cum laude) from Harvard University, his medical degree from the University of Connecticut, and a master’s in public health from UT Houston School of Public Health. He completed a pediatrics internship and a pediatrics residency from Austin Pediatric Education Program and a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship from Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
