Michael Zimmerman, MD, FACEP
Dr. Mike Zimmerman is an emergency physician at Five Star ER in Pflugerville, TX. Previously, he served as medical director there. He moved to Texas in 2013 and joined the ED staff at Seton Medical Center Williamson, a nearby Level II trauma center.
Previously, Dr. Zimmerman served as associate medical director/EMS director at Riverview Emergency Department in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. His career includes service as a member of the board of directors for Infinity HealthCare Inc., a clinical instructor of emergency medicine, a hospital education director, and as a flight physician.
After being a flight physician for the University of Chicago Aeromedical Network, then with Medflight at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he helped start and was the medical director of a helicopter EMS program in the Chicago area for more than seven years. Dr. Zimmerman is currently the medical director for Travis County ESD #2/Pflugerville Fire Department. He is also an American Heart Association instructor for ACLS and PALS.
Board-certified in emergency medicine, Dr. Zimmerman grew up in central Illinois and earned his medical degree from the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. He completed his emergency medicine training at University of Chicago Hospitals, where he served as chief resident for EMS and international transport, and was the recipient of the first Illinois College of Emergency Physicians Resident Leadership Fellowship.
Married with three children, in his free time Dr. Zimmerman enjoys skiing, racket sports, swimming, Formula One, and music—including an uncanny ability to remember song lyrics, especially ’80s music and punk rock!
