- To oversee day-to-day management of the unit
- Responsible for peer review, quality assurance, provider staffing
- Patient complaints and management of patient protocols
- To provide leadership in the operations of the unit
- Board certified in Internal Medicine, Family Practice Medicine or Emergency Medicine
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience caring for hospital based patients
- Previous administrative experience desirable
- Maintain active State license
- Maintain active and up to date ACLS
Clinical and Administrative Job Description
- Physician will be required to work a minimum of eight (8), four (4) hour clinical shifts per month or 32 clinical hours. The monthly clinical shift minimum is subject to increase at USACS’s sole discretion, as USACS establishes additional Observation Units.
- Physician’s combined clinical and administrative hours in observation will be a minimum of 60 hours per month (40% of overall employee time) as outlined in the USACS Regional Job Description.
- Physician will be subject to Group’s shift equity plan in the development and deployment of the clinical schedule, on par with other clinical physicians.
- Clinical and Administrative hours will be defined by contract with organization. Clinical hours required will be performed in the Observation unit as defined by contract.
- Monthly leadership meetings with the Nurse Manager of the Observation unit and the Provider Personnel of the Observation Unit
- Lead monthly staff meetings for the Observation Unit
- Lead quarterly Operations meetings for the Observation unit
- On-Call - responsible for Physician Supervision and call into the unit daily.
- Coverage for vacation and unanticipated absences will be provided by the Regional Director of Observation Services.
- Monthly on-site communication with the Department Head reporting to and provide unit updates.
- Communicate monthly with Hospital Administration.
- Meets Monthly with Regional Director of Observation Services
- Member of USACS Observation-Sub-Committee meets monthly
- Member of USACS coding/billing Meeting meets monthly
- Provides quarterly quality assurance report to the Regional Director of Observation Services.
- Maintains improvement plans for any area not meeting expected benchmarks
- Investigates any quality referrals from the hospital quality committee
