US Acute Care Solutions (USACS) today announced a new Integrated Acute Care partnership with MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island, IL. USACS’ unique model of Integrated Acute Care brings emergency medicine and hospitalist services together as one team with one purpose: seamless, quality patient care across the entire acute care episode. The new partnership will begin September 1, 2017.

USACS has been providing emergency medicine management services to MetroSouth since February 2016. The new partnership extends the strong relationship to cover hospitalist services.

"Our Integrated Acute Care program continues to grow in response to a growing awareness of USACS’ unique approach,” said Dr. Tim Corvino, USACS President of Integrated Acute Care. “By placing both emergency medicine and hospitalist services under a single, physician-owned and led team, accountable for results, our health system partners are seeing progress on the most difficult healthcare challenges as well as improved patient care across the board.”

The USACS model of Integrated Acute Care builds on USACS' commitment to physician ownership by creating a single, accountable team of physician leaders responsible for continual improvement of patient care throughout the patient's stay, from entrance into the Emergency Department until discharge, and even beyond. The model has led to improvements in key quality metrics, particularly those related to a hospital's preparedness for the future.

MetroSouth chose USACS both because of its already established performance in the Emergency Department, as well as its desire to have a single, accountable partner across the entire care continuum.

“Our patients and families have been very clear in their feedback to us that they define exceptional care as care that is coordinated throughout their healing process, and where their caregivers are communicating with one another and ultimately including them in this conversation,” said MetroSouth Medical Center CEO John D. Baird. “We felt strongly that working with USACS in our ER and inpatient hospitalist service would give us a unique opportunity to respond to what our patients expect at MetroSouth.”
