Rod Groomes, MD, is the ED Medical Director at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital (ACMH) in Kittanning, PA.

Before coming to ACMH, Dr. Groomes worked in the Emergency Department at Brotman Memorial Hospital in West Los Angeles. He then spent three-and-one-half-years as a staff internist at Al Hada Hospital in Taif, the summer capital of Saudi Arabia. 

Dr. Groomes has been with the ACMH’s Emergency Department since 1985. He has served as the ED Director since 1987.

Dr. Groomes is past President of the Medical Staff at ACMH and past President of the Armstrong County Medical Society. He is an Instructor for several of the Physician Assistant programs in Western Pennsylvania.

Dr. Groomes earned his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his residency at Wadsworth VA Hospital in Los Angeles, CA. He is board certified Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine.

Outside of the ED, Dr. Groomes enjoys skiing and likes to spend as much time as possible in Breckenridge, CO. He is a triathlete; however, he says he finds cycling much kinder to his aging musculoskeletal system than running.
