David Wirtz, MD, MPH, FACEP, is the ED Medical Director at Cortland Regional Medical Center in Cortland, NY. Dr. Wirtz started with USACS in 2003 and has served as EMS Director at Cortland Regional Medical Center since June 2004. He has served as the president of the medical staff at Cortland Regional Medical Center since 2011.

Dr. Wirtz is a 2005 graduate of the Scholars Program. He has also attended the Patient Satisfaction Academy, Efficiency Academy and Management Academy.

Dr. Wirtz received his undergraduate training at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Society. He received his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY and an MPH concentrating in EMS Management. He completed his emergency medicine residency at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital in New York, NY, where he was Chief Resident.

Dr. Wirtz is board certified in emergency medicine and is a Fellow in the American College of Emergency Physicians. He is an instructor in CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
