As a traveling firefighter, Dr. Benioni has worked alongside partners across multiple hospital systems in the USACS East, Southeast and Central divisions. He currently serves on the Diversity & Inclusion Council, Residency Task Force, Education Committee, and is a 2017 Scholar. As the Firefighter liaison to the Wellness Committee, he has implemented national goals of balancing health, life and work for the traveling team. He is on core faculty for our Midwestern University’s Emergency Medicine Residency Program in Chicago.
Dr. Benioni received his undergraduate from the University of Miami, Florida, where he earned degrees in both Music and Biology in a combined program. He completed medical school, residency and chief residency at the University of Rochester in New York. He is dedicated to both medical student and resident education, and his teaching experiences include assistant professorships in the Department of Surgery at the University of Hawaii, Department of Clinical Sciences at Florida State University and Department of Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida, where he also served as the Associate Medical Director of Sarasota County. He is a forensic medico-legal consultant and is a national senior physician reviewer for quality measures and appeals cases on behalf of patients, hospitals and physicians.
Traveling with the Firefighter team allows him the freedom of splitting the year to live in Hawaii, where he grew up, but also significant time in New York and Florida. Dr. Benioni enjoys music, theatre, international adventures and all of the food that comes with it. His partner Ryan and Bichon Frise travel the nation with him. He is proud to be part of the clinical recruitment team, and always ecstatic to have the opportunity to meet so many incredible physicians while on the road.
