Jonathan DeGroat, MD, FACEP, FAAEM
Jonathan T. DeGroat MD, FACEP, FAAEM, is currently Medical Director at Florida Hospital Central Pasco Free Standing Emergency Department and Associate Medical Director at Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel. He has been with US Acute Care Solutions since 2016, where he completed the Scholars program in 2017 and actively participates in the physician mentoring program, quality review committee, and both local and national recruiting teams.
Dr. DeGroat obtained his undergraduate degree in mathematics, from the University of Florida. He began his Master’s of Science in Pharmacology at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, however, it was interrupted by Hurricane Katrina. It was during this time he discovered his passion for medicine, ultimately attending medical school at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA, where he was awarded Honors in several of his clinical rotations. He went on to Shands Hospital, University of Florida, for his Emergency Medicine Residency. There he served as a Resident Representative for the Emergency Medicine Resident’s Association of Florida, performed ring-side physician duties for amateur MMA competitions, helped lead a medical mission to Nicaragua, and competed against other EM residents at Symposium by the Sea, ultimately winning individual and team case presentation awards.
He is board certified in Emergency Medicine, a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and American Academy of Emergency Medicine, as well as a member of Florida College of Emergency Physicians and the American Medical Association. He has previously given academic lectures, published research, and in 2017 participated in the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women casting call.
Dr. DeGroat currently lives in South Tampa with his wife, Lisa, son, Lincoln, and dog, Hailee. They love riding bikes, boating, and participating in all things Tampa Bay (Go Bolts, Bucs, Rowdies, and Rays!). His hobbies also include indoor/outdoor soccer, running, shooting, and spending times with friends.
