Nicholas Steinour, MD, MBA, FACEP, is the Regional Vice President of the USACS South Division, overseeing the Houston Methodist system sites. Prior to his current role, Dr. Steinour served as the ED Medical Director at Dell Seton Medical Center and Ascension Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas, where his efforts were focused on driving an academic cultural shift while maintaining clinical excellence to serve a combined patient volume of more than 100,000 annual visits.
Active in hospital system leadership, he is currently chair of the network pharmacy and therapeutics committee and chair of the ED network clinical care council. Additionally, Dr. Steinour serves as division chief of emergency medicine at Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin and is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).
Academically, Dr. Steinour has been recognized for excellence in bedside instruction from students and residents. His research interests focus on operational efficiency and reducing waste in the healthcare system. He works diligently to provide optimal care environments for quality, efficient care to create a rich environment for learning.
Dr. Steinour brings experience with new site acquisition and cultural integration through strategic recruiting and health system alignment having led three sites as they became part of the USACS family. He is a member of the USACS National Clinical Governance Board (NCGB) and Regional Board of Directors and is also an active participant in recruitment efforts and the USACS FailSafe Risk Reduction program.
Dr. Steinour received his medical degree from the University of Miami and completed his residency at Duke University Medical Center where he served as chief resident.
