Tom Snead

Thomas L. Snead II, MD, serves as Director of the USACS AdventHealth Ocala Emergency Medicine Fellowship in Ocala, Florida. He has practiced emergency medicine with USACS since May 2021, bringing extensive clinical experience, Physician leadership, and a strong commitment to medical education and Physician development.

Dr. Snead’s passion for fellowship development grew from his own postgraduate training. He completed his family practice residency at the Community Health Center of Branch County in Coldwater, Michigan, from July 2007 through June 2009, serving as Chief Resident. He subsequently completed the inaugural-year emergency medicine fellowship/preceptorship with Premier Health Care Services in Dayton, Ohio, from July 2009 through June 2010. This experience provided firsthand insight into the value of structured postgraduate training for Physicians transitioning into emergency medicine and inspired his long-term goal of creating similar educational opportunities for others.

In August 2026, Dr. Snead brought that vision to fruition with the launch of the USACS AdventHealth Ocala Emergency Medicine Fellowship, which he directs. This one-year program provides comprehensive clinical and didactic education, including weekly conferences, board-preparation activities, case-based learning, simulation, procedural skills training, and clinical experience across adult, pediatric, and freestanding emergency departments.

As Fellowship Director, Dr. Snead oversees curriculum development, fellow recruitment, mentorship, and the ongoing growth of the educational program. He is committed to developing a rigorous, supportive learning environment that prepares physicians for the clinical challenges of modern Emergency Medicine. The Ocala fellowship also collaborates with its sister USACS fellowship in Cullman, Alabama, through shared educational activities and weekly didactics.

Dr. Snead is board-certified in emergency medicine and family medicine by the American Board of Physician Specialties (ABPS). He is actively involved with ABPS and currently serves as Chair of the Board of Certification in Emergency Medicine (BCEM), contributing to the advancement of physician certification and professional standards in emergency medicine.

His professional interests include emergency medicine education, fellowship development, clinical decision-making, procedural training, and physician assessment. Through his clinical practice, leadership with ABPS, and direction of the Ocala fellowship, Dr. Snead is dedicated to advancing emergency medicine education and providing future physicians with the structured training, mentorship, and professional foundation that helped shape his own career.
