Joe Ponce

Joseph Ponce, MD, is the Physician Lead, Residency Relations—West Division and an Emergency Physician based in Colorado. Since joining USACS in 2024, Dr. Ponce has primarily worked at AdventHealth and CommonSpirit sites in Denver, as well as Garden City and Dodge City, Kansas. He has a passion for education, mentorship, and leadership, committed to engaging residency programs across the country. 

Originally from Texas, Dr. Ponce earned his medical degree from McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston before completing his emergency medicine residency at Denver Health. During residency, he served on the Graduate Medical Education Committee, Medical Education Committee, and Social Media Committee. He developed and implemented a simulation curriculum for all rotating medical students, instructed medical students at the University of Colorado School of Medicine Alpine Basecamp, and led an airway management workshop for emergency medicine interns. 

On a personal note, Dr. Ponce is a loyal Texas Longhorns fan, a travel enthusiast alongside his wife and Chocolate Labrador, and an avid skier serving on the Copper Mountain medical ski patrol.

Dr. Ponce shares, “I’ve been incredibly pleased with my USACS experience, and I’m eager to share those positive experiences with Residents. Whether it’s providing documentation support, implementing AI initiatives, or developing clinical decision support tools, I firmly believe that USACS equips new graduate Physicians with the necessary resources to thrive in their careers. In this role, I intend to establish stronger connections with residency programs and solidify USACS’ reputation as a premier destination for Senior Residents and new graduate Physicians.”
