Zack Timmons, MD

Zack Timmons, MD, is the Physician Lead, Residency Relations – South Division and an Emergency Physician at Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital. He brings a background in both healthcare strategy and entrepreneurship to his work in Physician recruitment and outreach. 
Prior to medical school, Dr. Timmons earned his bachelor’s degree in cognitive science from Rice University. He worked as a Strategy & Operations Business Analyst at Deloitte Consulting, supporting enterprise technology implementations for health systems across the United States and internationally. 

Dr. Timmons then received his medical degree from Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with a distinction in entrepreneurship. During this time, he co-founded a social venture that delivered over 1 million pounds of food to families facing food insecurity amid the COVID-19 pandemic. He was awarded the Excellence in Public Health Award from the United States Public Health Service and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

Dr. Timmons went on to complete his emergency medicine residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He was recognized as Department Leader of the Year, two-time Clinician of the Year, and recipient of the Excellence in Trauma Award. 

Outside of medicine, Dr. Timmons enjoys long-distance backpacking and has completed over 300 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, the Patagonia O-Trek, and the Alta Via 1 in Italy. He is married to Karen Haney, MD, a current Gynecologic Oncology Fellow at MD Anderson Cancer Center. They are proud parents of Rosie, their Mini Australian Labradoodle. 

Dr. Timmons shares, “I chose to serve in this role because I genuinely believe that USACS sets up new graduate Physicians for success—both clinically and professionally. Our internal analytics, quality infrastructure, and clinical rigor are industry-leading, and I was excited to share these experiences with my home program and with Residents across the country as they navigate an increasingly complex transition into independent practice. In this role, I hope to build on one of USACS’ core objectives—to be the practice that every Emergency Physician wants to join.”
