Dr. Steven Guyton is the ED Medical Director at West Penn Hospital. He previously served as the Quality Director.

Dr. Guyton earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA, and completed his emergency medicine residency at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, SC.

During his residency, Dr. Guyton became interested in flight medicine. He became a Major in the US Air Force and was ultimately deployed to support our troops in Afghanistan in 2012. In 2016, he was deployed to Antarctica.

Following his residency, Dr. Guyton worked in Charlotte, NC. That’s where he met his wife, who is originally from North Hills, PA. The couple had a daughter and named her Charlotte. 

When the couple moved back to Pittsburgh, Dr. Guyton joined the staff of West Penn.

In his spare time, Dr. Guyton is a long distance runner, enjoys playing ice hockey and is a licensed pilot.
