Steven Haywood, MD
Dr. Steven Haywood is the Clerkship Director and an emergency medicine physician with Summa Health – Akron Campus and an assistant professor of Emergency Medicine with Northeast Ohio Medical University. He serves on numerous committees for his hospital, including the Clinical Competency, Ultrasound, and Emergency Process Improvement. He is the creator and lead editor of the blog 5MinVent.com, a ventilatory education blog, and senior editor and regular contributor to CriticalCareNow.com. He is the lead content generator for Akron EM’s virtual presence supporting medical education under the username Akron_EM. He lectures frequently, both regionally and nationally. Dr. Haywood earned a bachelor’s degree from Freed-Hardeman University and his medical degree from Quillen COM. After high school graduation, he joined the U.S. Army, where he was trained as a respiratory therapist. He completed his emergency medicine residency through the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, Erlanger Medical Center, where he was chief resident.
