T. Elijah Benioni, MD, FACEP
Dr. Benioni is chair of USACS’ National Clinical Governance Board Wellness Committee. He is a core faculty member for our Midwestern University Emergency Medicine Residency Program in Chicago, where he is also the Director of Education and Ultrasound in the Midwest region. As a former traveling firefighter, he has worked alongside partners across multiple hospital systems in the USACS East, Southeast and Midwest regions. He serves on the Diversity & Inclusion Council, Residency Task Force, Education Committee, Academic Affairs Committee and is a 2017 Scholars graduate. Dr. Benioni enjoys meeting residents from across the country as he travels as one of our recruitment dinner speakers.
Dr. Benioni received his undergraduate from the University of Miami, Florida, where he earned degrees in both Music and Biology in a combined program. He completed medical school, residency and chief residency at the University of Rochester, New York. He is dedicated to both medical student and resident education, and his teaching experiences include assistant professorships in the Department of Surgery at the University of Hawaii, Department of Clinical Sciences at Florida State University and Department of Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida, where he also served as the Associate Medical Director of Sarasota County. He is a forensic medico-legal consultant and is a national reviewer for quality and appeals in relation to CMS, patients, hospitals and physicians.
He is better known to the USACS family by his nickname “E.J.”, and lives with his partner Ryan where they enjoy the freedom of splitting the year up to live in Hawaii, where he grew up, and also New York and Florida. They enjoy beaching, food & fine wine, musical theatre and international adventures.
