Dan Tubbesing, MD
Dr. Daniel Tubbesing has served as the medical director of the adult emergency department at North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, TX, since 2004. For more than a decade he has been an integral part of the hospital’s medical staff, serving as a member of the Medical Executive Committee as well as myriad other committees and assuming a variety of leadership roles.
Among his accomplishments are the development of the STEP (Safely Treating Emergency Patients) program, which dramatically reduced narcotic use/abuse in the Baptist Health System emergency departments. He presented at the Studer Group’s national conference on the topics of sustained excellence in patient satisfaction and the STEP program. He has developed and implemented numerous clinical protocols and has worked with the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio’s emergency medicine residency.
Before joining the team serving the Baptist Health System, Dr. Tubbesing worked as a teaching attending physician in the emergency medicine residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center while on active duty at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He served there as quality director and director of risk management.
Dr. Tubbesing earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame. He received his medical degree from the Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago and completed his emergency medicine residency at the Northwestern University McGaw Medical Center.
Fluent in Spanish, he enjoys sports including cycling, tennis, volleyball, and golf.
