Emergency Department

  • ED Volume: 33,000 
  • 29-Bed ED (21-bed Main ED; 8-bed Fast Track)
  • 3/4 rooms are private; 1/4 curtained
  • 20 monitored, 9 not monitored
  • EPIC documentation
  • Hospitalists admin 90% of ED patients
  • ED Ultrasound Program (GE machine)
  • Glide Scope available
  • Three days per week, physicians work as a provider in triage; four days per week, APPs work as a provider in triage

  • Heart hospital within hospital
  • Interventional Cath Lab – 24/7
  • 60 minute average door-to-balloon times
  • Two Cath Labs; one call team
  • Designated Primary Stroke Center
  • TPA is given by emergency medicine physicians
  • Imaging Resources: PACS radiology film reading system in the ED
  • CT: Available 24/7 - 2 machines in the hospital – 64 and 16 slice
  • Radiology: EMPs read plain films (discrepancy calls done by APPs)
  • Tele-radiology for all specialty films and any films with questions
  • Radiology Suite in the ED
  • MRI: Available 24/7
  • Ultrasound: Available 24/7
  • Patient Transfers: Trauma, Interventional Stroke, Head Bleeds, PEDs
