He is associate clinical faculty for Austin’s emergency medicine residency program and the rural ER rotation site director at Seton Highland Lakes Hospital since 2017. Known as an engaging and always surprising public speaker, the residency program voted him Associate Clinical Faculty of the Year in 2021. His other interests include songwriting and musical performance, and he can still be found playing live in Austin, TX, and across the US. On this note, he was the musical guest at the American College of Emergency Physician’s national meeting in 2023.
- Our #1 Killer as Case Study: Improve learners’ knowledge of the natural history and pathophysiology of heart disease and explore the limitations of our current medical and surgical-based treatments
- What is Lifestyle Medicine: Educate learners on the “pillars” of lifestyle medicine and explore the pathophysiology and extensive evidence on the ability of lifestyle change to arrest, prevent, and even reverse heart disease and other chronic disease
- Talking-The-Talk: Give practical tips in communicating with patients in chronic disease crisis, apply the pillars of lifestyle medicine in ER practice, and learn to say the right thing when it matters most—much the way we learn to talk-the-talk of hospice medicine in critical moments
