About USACS
The Regional Medical Director is responsible for building high-performing clinical teams and ensuring exceptional patient care across multiple hospitals and service lines. This leader partners with hospital administration, Medical Directors, physicians, APPs, nursing leadership, and USACS regional leadership to drive quality, operational excellence, and strong clinical partnerships while achieving key performance metrics and developing future leaders.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Talent
- Build and maintain strong hospital partnerships with a focus on customer service and collaboration.
- Mentor, coach, and develop Medical Directors and site leaders through regular performance and career discussions.
- Drive accountability for operational and quality outcomes using data-driven decision-making and proactive risk identification.
- Recruit, retain, credential, orient, and support physicians, APPs, and clinical leaders.
- Foster a culture aligned with USACS values, emphasizing teamwork, shared success, and continuous improvement.
Clinical & Operational Excellence
- Oversee physician and APP staffing, scheduling, and department operations.
- Monitor patient experience, patient flow, quality metrics, and regulatory compliance while leading process improvement initiatives.
- Support quality assurance, risk management, accreditation readiness, budgeting, productivity goals, and coding oversight.
- Ensure compliance with departmental, hospital, and medical staff policies and maintain timely communication across all stakeholders.
Collaboration & Communication
- Serve as the primary liaison between clinical teams, hospital leadership, nursing leadership, and USACS regional leadership.
- Support responses to patient concerns and participate in hospital committees related to quality, credentialing, utilization, risk management, and disaster preparedness.
- Partner with executive leadership on account management strategies and represent the organization in community or media interactions when appropriate.
Qualifications
- Required: Medical Degree, Medical Board Certification, State Medical License(s), Federal DEA License
- Preferred: EM Residency Training, Fellowship Training, or other training as applicable, Active ABEM/ABOEM Board Certification, Scholars Program, 5+ years of physician leadership experience

Position Requirements
This part-time leadership role is performed alongside clinical duties, typically following a 50/50 administrative and clinical workload. The position requires flexibility, including extended hours and occasional weekends, with 24/7 physician leadership availability. At least one full day per week should be spent on-site for meetings and rounding. Local and occasional overnight travel, including attendance at mandatory USACS leadership meetings, is required.
