USACS Now Sole System Solution for Adventist HealthCare MD as GWEP joins USACS
USACS NOW SOLE SYSTEM SOLUTION FOR ADVENTIST HEALTHCARE MARYLAND AS GWEP JOINS USACS CANTON, Ohio, October 13, 2020 – US Acute Care Solutions (USACS) announced today that the Greater Washington Emergency Physicians (GWEP) physicians, who provide emergency services at Adventist HealthCare (AHC) Fort Washington Medical Center, have elected to join USACS. Dr. James Augustine Recognized for Service to International Association of Fire Chiefs
Canton, Ohio, August 26, 2020 –US Acute Care Solutions today announced that The International Association of Fire Chiefs President Gary Ludwig selected Dr. James Augustine as one of this year’s recipients of the International Association of Fire Chiefs’ President’s Recognition Award, recognizing him as one who has contributed in a significant way during the president’s term. “I am very blessed to spend my career in a specialty designed around patient needs, and lucky to be a part of transforming that care throughout my lifetime,” said Dr. Augustine, who has been working with fire and EMS services since medical school. “I’m honored to receive this award.” James Augustine, MD, FACEP, chairs the USACS National Clinical Governance Board. He is a board certified diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and a fellow in the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). He recently concluded his second term on the ACEP Board of Directors, where he was honored for his work at the 2019 conference for his lifetime of service. In addition, he has been a member of national groups and organizations overseeing emergency medical services, emergency service quality improvement, benchmarking and best practices and disaster preparation. Dr. Augustine earned his bachelor’s degree with cum laude honors from The Ohio State University, and his medical degree from Wright State University School of Medicine. He performed an integrated residency in emergency medicine at Wright State University School of Medicine. He continues to serve as a clinical associate professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Wright State University. He has been married to Linda Augustine, a critical care nurse, for more than 30 years, and they have three grown children. Dr. Augustine is a medical director for Fire EMS agencies in Atlanta, Georgia; Naples, Florida and Dayton, Ohio. The International Association of Fire Chiefs represents the leadership of firefighters and emergency responders worldwide; their members are the world’s most leading experts in firefighting, emergency medical services, terrorism response, hazardous materials spills, natural disasters, search and rescue, and public safety policy.

Managing Pediatric Hospitalist Services at Adventist Health White Memorial

Expanding Partnership at Mercy Medical Center Merced to Include Critical Care and Obstetrics Services

USACS Issues Statement on Healthcare Bias and Injustice Based on Race
Authors: Joyce Perfetti DO, Jason Bolden MD, USACS Executive Leadership As the nation’s leading physician-owned group providing clinical services to acutely ill patients, 2020 has been a year of many difficulties. Our practice of medicine changed seemingly overnight with the spread of COVID-19, an invisible force being fought daily by our clinicians with the support of our healthcare partners. In addition to this new viral adversary, we continue to witness injustice through unequal treatment of members of our communities. The killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis was one of the most recent examples of our country’s history of mistreatment, harassment, and disproportionate death in communities of color. Additionally, the COVID-19 pandemic has claimed the lives of people of color at a higher rate, mandating our attention on the racial disparities in healthcare in particular. Here at USACS, we are more than just a company. We are a group of independent and diverse clinicians and non-clinicians who work together as a team to provide quality medical care with compassion for our patients. Our collective diversity is the strength that allows us to better understand our patients with an open heart and empathy. Our mutual respect of each partner’s uniqueness is one of the inherent values of our USACS culture. Each individual’s diverse perspective is not only accepted but valued, respected and encouraged. We supportallour clinicians and communities unwaveringly and stand beside them when facing inequality and injustice. At USACS, injustice and discrimination can claim no sanctuary. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of those whose lives were unjustly taken. We are also sending support to all those in our workplace and communities who are grieving or suffering during this difficult time. The battle for human rights against racism is not just for one group of people, but a duty to be shared by us all. In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” For our patients. For each other. Dr. David Seaberg Chair Honored for Lifetime Achievement by The American College of Emergency Physicians
Canton, Ohio, June 16, 2020 – US Acute Care Solutions (USACS) today announced that David Seaberg, MD, CPE, FACEP has received the American College of Emergency Physicians’ (ACEP) highest award, the John G. Wiegenstein Leadership Award. The John G. Wiegenstein Leadership Award, named for ACEP’s founder and first president, is awarded annually at the ACEP Scientific Assembly, which will be held for online this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Seaberg chairs the Academic Affairs Committee of USACS’ National Clinical Governance Board, is a vice president of the USACS North West region, and chairs the Department of Emergency Medicine at Summa Health – Akron campus. With nearly 30 years of emergency medicine experience, Dr. Seaberg has held a variety of clinical and academic positions locally and across the nation, including at the University of Tennessee, where he served as chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine, the inaugural dean of the College of Medicine and a professor in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Surgery. “It is an incredible honor to receive this distinguished recognition from ACEP,” said Dr. Seaberg. “I’m grateful for the opportunities I have had throughout my career to further advance emergency medicine, and especially grateful to serve with ACEP – an extraordianary organization that benefits hospitals, physicians, and the patients we serve.” Dr. Seaberg is credited for his involvement in starting six emergency medicine residency programs, including those at Summa Health, University of Tennessee, University of Florida and MetroHealth Medical Center.
